I started my career in 2018, working with a wide variety of clients—from business owners to children in school. My journey into coaching wasn’t a straightforward one, as I had spent years working in a corporate job. I had deliberately taken a step back to reduce my responsibilities in order to achieve a better work/life balance. For a few years, that was great, until I faced a life-altering event: my mum passed away. That loss was a wake-up call. It made me question everything. I asked myself, What am I doing? Can I keep doing this for another 20 years?
The answer that screamed inside my head was, No. But what did that mean for me? Starting over, considering my finances, and figuring out what I truly wanted to do with my life. This job wasn’t terrible—I enjoyed the people I worked with, and the money was good. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t my path.
As I approached 50 years old, I summoned the courage to go to university for the first time. Changing careers wasn’t easy, but it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I began with coaching and attended Cambridge University, which was an amazing experience. This education paved the way for me to work with clients to help them achieve their personal and professional goals—whether that meant finding a soulmate, landing a dream job, growing a business, enhancing relationships, achieving health and fitness goals, becoming an effective leader, or discovering a deeper purpose in life.
Often, clients aren’t sure exactly what they want, and that’s where life coaching comes in. I provide guidance to help them make decisions at various crossroads in life. Life coaching doesn’t offer quick fixes or magic bullets. It evolved from the principles of positive psychology, empowering clients to generate lasting change. Just like building physical muscles, coaching helps clients develop their mental, emotional, and spiritual “muscles” so they can approach life more effectively. Over time, clients grow the strength to face life’s challenges with ease and grace.
I then went on to study Mindfulness at Sany Ling through the Mindfulness Association. The retreats were incredibly calming, though facilitating a mindfulness session in front of a monk was intimidating at first. However, I received encouraging feedback and fell in love with the sense of calm that mindfulness brings. Since then, I’ve taught many individuals and groups, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see their progress.
I studied counselling and psychotherapy at UHI, which led to volunteering at a doctor’s surgery and later at a recovery centre, where I continue to volunteer. I also worked as a school counsellor during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. This role has been deeply fulfilling.
Currently, I work privately and as a freelancer, having qualified as a clinical supervisor. In 2021, I became a Shamanic practitioner, studying through The Ancient Ways. This transformative journey has deepened my practice, and I’ve spent years working on myself to be better equipped to help others on their journeys.
Each step of my career and personal growth has brought me closer to my true calling. I’m passionate about helping others achieve lasting change and finding the clarity and strength to navigate life with confidence. If you’re ready to embrace change and gain the clarity you need, reach out today.
